Which IQOS Devices Work with TEREA? Compatibility Guide

One of the most common questions we get on WhatsApp is: “Will TEREA work in my IQOS?” The answer depends on which IQOS you have. This guide explains which devices work with TEREA, which work with HEETS, and how to tell them apart.

Short answer: TEREA works only with IQOS ILUMA devices (ILUMA, ILUMA ONE, ILUMA PRIME, ILUMA i, ILUMA i One and ILUMA i Prime). TEREA does not work with older IQOS devices such as IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS ORIGINALS or lil SOLID, and you should not try to use it in them.

These older devices heat the tobacco with a heating blade and are made for HEETS (or Fiit for lil SOLID).

Why TEREA does not work in older IQOS devices

ILUMA devices use the SmartCore Induction System. Each TEREA stick has a small metal heating element sealed inside the tobacco, and the device heats it from the inside using induction. There is no blade in an ILUMA device.

Older IQOS devices push a blade into the tobacco to heat it. If you put a TEREA stick in one of these devices, the blade can hit the metal element inside the stick. It will not work properly and can damage the blade of your device. Never use TEREA in a blade device.

Can I use HEETS in IQOS ILUMA?

No. HEETS have no metal element inside, so an ILUMA device cannot heat them. ILUMA devices only work with TEREA.

How to check which IQOS you have

• Look for the name: ILUMA devices have “ILUMA” printed on the device or the box.
• Look inside the holder: if you can see a thin heating blade in the middle, it is an older IQOS and needs HEETS. If there is no blade, it is an ILUMA device and needs TEREA.
